| ECO-Diving
UDTV is proud to announce the partnership with Manta Mexico and Project Hammerhead for the 2003 season. UDTV clients and staff will be helping with the research of these two groups in an effort to help prolong the Giant Manta and Hammerhead species. ECO-Diving is bringing clients closer to the species of their choice in a more focused and intensive diving experience. UDTV will help these research groups with gender identification, measurements, behavior studies as well as photograph and videotape these wonderful creatures. The Giant Manta and the Scalloped Hammerhead Shark are both facing diminishing populations. Long-line Bycatch, shark finning, and demand for manta cartilage and skin for traditional medicine and the consumer market have all played a part. These two research groups will take the vital information and research that UDTV will assist with and use it as a part of their database for world-wide conservation and protection. It is recommended that participants have at least an advanced certification in diving and a minimum of 25 dives. The conditions in which these species exist is not conducive for beginning divers. You will not only need to be in control of yourself in potentially demanding conditions, but you will be expected to help with the research as well. UDTV will provide a dive master and or representative from each research group per dive. There will also be a classroom and or boat orientation before every dive. Although the first two dives of the day will be focused on the species in question, the third dive each day will be a shallower, more mellow dive. Non-divers are welcome as well. The minimum ECO-Diving group size is two divers, with a maximum of six. UDTV Services are turn key packages that provide you with everything including airport transfers, accommodations, tours, education, and diving. The only thing we do not cover in the package prices are your meals. Because of the broad range of food options that exist here in Baja, we leave that up to the client. Although food plan options are available for those who wish to have that taken care of as well. Please visit the staff bios page or contact George@UnderwaterTV.com for more specific information. |
