On shore, another secret - a new organization called UnderwaterTV reaching out to local research groups to support and promote environmentally friendly TV programming of wondrous creatures whose lives depend on a healthy environment. Secrets of the Sea of Cortez is an extraordinary DVD which showcases the many marine species that make up the beautiful Sea of Cortez, including many species of dolphin, sharks, turtles, sea lions, rare sea urchins, eels, rays, and countless types of fish. It also features incredible footage of species that pass through the Sea of Cortez during seasonal migrations - breaching Humback Whales, Giant pods of Pilot Whales, and the legendary Orcas. UnderwaterTV is partnering with Manta Mexico and Project Hammerhead on special documentary projects and research assistance with two goals: To educate people who visit the Baja about the importance of protecting the diminishing populations of the Giant Mantas and Hammerhead Sharks; and to reach a wider population, with a special emphasize on children, who have the potential to save our oceans. The Secrets of the Sea of Cortez is set to exciting original music. Filmed over the course of one year, it brings the incredible life of this little-visited paradise to the screen. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the DVD will help Manta Mexico and Project Hammerhead fund the creation of educational videos aimed at children from kindergarden through high school. With versions in both English and Spanish, the educational videos will initially circulate in schools in La Paz, Mexico and certain California and Colorado school systems, with hopes of eventually reaching children in many other areas of Mexico and the United States. Secrets of the Sea of Cortez is a professionally produced DVD which includes the thirty minute feature, easily accesable chapters, a high resolution slide show, map of the La Paz area dive sites and an UnderwaterTV promotional video. Discover the Sea of Cortez and many of the secrets it has to offer, great as an educational tool, gift for any lover of the seas, or for anyone who has an interest in wildlife conservation. |
